Frequently asked Questions
Dr. Karen Ho and Dr. Min Hee Oh have years of experience in putting our patients at ease during their appointments with us. We provide exceptional care and our total focus is on your comfort and well-being.
Anytime there’s a need to numb your mouth for a procedure like a root canal or filling, we always start by applying a fast-acting numbing gel, followed by a local anesthetic. Both of our doctors have the skill and expertise to provide injections that are efficient and comfortable.
We won’t begin any work until we know that the area we’re treating is completely numb. During your procedure we’ll keep checking in with you to make sure you’re not feeling anything. We encourage all our patients to give us a signal immediately if they’re sensing even the slightest discomfort.
But we do understand that dental anxiety is a very real problem for many of our patients. If you prefer, we can prescribe a calming medication that you should take before you arrive at our office. When combined with our gentle approach, the medication will allow you to enjoy a relaxed, comfortable experience. If we do prescribe a medication, you will need to have a driver to get you to and from your appointment.
If you do have concerns, please share them with us before your appointment. We’ll do everything we can to put you at ease and tailor your treatment to fit your needs.
Like many of us, you probably have more questions than answers when it comes to your dental insurance coverage. At Palm View Dental, we know that figuring out the details of your plan’s specific coverage, the list of procedures included, and the portion you’re responsible for can seem overwhelming.
We understand! Since there are no blanket answers, it's difficult to know for sure what’s covered without breaking down the terms of your plan.
Treatments covered by dental insurance vary widely and depend on your insurance company and your individual plan. In general, many policies cover the cost of preventive services like routine dental exams, professional cleanings, and x-rays (as needed) for you and your family.
The rates for simple and complex dental procedures also differ from one policy to the next. Depending on your coverage, you may be responsible for some portion of the cost of preventive treatments. However, we'll be happy to submit a pre-authorization for your specific treatment and help determine what your responsibility is before we begin treatment.
If you have questions about coverage for specific treatments or about your policy in general, please don’t hesitate to contact our Alhambra dental office. We’ll be happy to help find the information you need to make informed decisions about your dental treatment.
As your dentist, we’re responsible for caring for your teeth, gums, and jawbone. Without dental x-rays, we cannot see or detect hidden changes, developments, or abnormalities in your teeth and jawbones without dental x-rays.
We share your concerns about dental x-rays, and we take every precaution and safeguard to minimize your radiation exposure. We follow a conservative schedule for taking digital x-rays, a technology that requires the lowest amount of exposure time and therefore has the least amount of radiation.
Our team has many years of skill and experience and focus on proper technique and placement to reduce the need for re-takes and additional exposure. For your complete protection and safety, we provide each patient with a lead radiation apron prior to x-rays being taken.
Check-up x-rays are taken only when we feel there’s a need (for instance, you come to us complaining of a toothache). If there haven’t been any major developments in your condition for an extended period of time, we’ll take x-rays at one- to two-year intervals.
We strive to provide you with updated, personalized care using state-of-the-art practices and the highest standard of consistent care. Without dental x-rays, we simply would not be able to do our job effectively.
If you still have questions about dental x-rays, please don’t hesitate to contact our Alhambra dental office. We’ll be happy to speak with you and put your mind at ease about our dental x-rays.
We understand that finances are a big concern for everyone, and we’ll do everything we can to make sure you receive the necessary care with a minimum of stress on your budget.
We’re pleased to accept all the usual forms of payment – cash, personal check, and credit and debit cards. In addition, we offer financing through CareCredit, a healthcare credit card. Simply apply at our office or online, and in most cases you will receive an immediate decision.
CareCredit can be used to finance the cost of your dental treatments by breaking payments down into manageable monthly amounts that fit your budget. If you pay off the balance in the agreed time period, you will not be charged any interest. CareCredit can also be used for other health, beauty, and wellness treatments.
If you would like to make an appointment, please call our office, and a friendly member of our staff will be happy to work with you to schedule an appointment at your convenience. You may also use our handy online request form to indicate your preference, and we’ll get back to you as quickly as possible.
While situations always arise that make it difficult to keep an appointment, we ask that you please provide us with 48 hours notice. This allows us to see to the needs of another patient or to schedule an emergency appointment. If you do need to cancel, please contact our office as soon as possible, and we’ll help you reschedule.
