Straight Teeth for a Healthier Smile
If you’re thinking about orthodontic treatment, you’re probably most concerned with the way your teeth look. But the benefits of straightening your teeth go far beyond the aesthetic benefits.
When your teeth are out of proper alignment, it puts additional pressure on other teeth and leads to problems like tooth erosion, bruxism (teeth grinding, and even TMJ problems. Crowded teeth also make it a challenge to practice thorough oral hygiene and remove plaque from all surfaces of your teeth, leading to gum disease and tooth decay.
In recent years there’s been a lot of research conducted about the link between the health of your mouth and your general health. Numerous studies have found that chronic diseases of the mouth (like gum disease) are a contributing factor to serious health problems like heart disease, diabetes, respiratory disease, Alzheimer's disease and low birth weight babies.
How Invisalign Works
Your customized Invisalign aligners are created using state-of-the-art 3-D computer imaging. This allows us to identify the misalignment and develop a plan that predicts the way your teeth will move during treatment.
This information will be used to create your customized Invisalign aligners. You’ll receive a series of custom aligners and wear each set for about two weeks. As you advance to the next set in the series, you’ll probably notice that your teeth are gradually starting to move into their proper position.
We’ll tell you everything you need to know about Invisalign treatment and make appointments to see you once every six weeks to check on your progress. Most Invisalign treatment takes approximately a year for adults, with treatment time for older teens being about the same as with traditional braces.
